Tips for
Choosing an Electric 2 Wheel Scooter
An electrically powered scooter is economical, clean, and surprisingly peppy in the performance column. Just don't confuse these sporty looking 2 wheelers with their 3-wheel cousins that are often used to assist medical patients and elderly seniors. We have seen people carrying folding electric e-bikes on the subway or metro. When they arrive at their station they unfold it, and ride the rest of the way to home or office. Now that's being a clever commuter.
We're not sure whether the X-Treme should be categorized as an electric moped, bicycle or scooter. It looks in many ways like a 21-century version of the popular Vespa gas scooter. We believe it is street legal in all 50 states of the USA because it fits into the bicycle regulations. The XB-500 has quite a lot of storage space under the seat, and is well equipped with two oversize headlights and dual rear view mirrors.
One of our favorite electric scooters of the two wheel variety is the E-Road electric bicycle. Talk about inexpensive to operate, you can ride 50 miles on 25-cents worth of electricity. Its electric motor delivers 500 watts of power that gives this e-moped a top speed of 20 miles per hour. It's also great for the environment, as it does not give off any carbon pollution. It's also silent. Even though you don't even need a driver's license to ride it in most places, you should still keep safety in mind and wear a helmet, glasses or goggles, and protective clothing.
The Metro electric bicycle by Zem is super fun transportation with an MSRP price tag of about $1700. The top speed is 20 mph and its range is 34-miles. As with a lot of electric bikes, it comes with pedals so it doesn't need a vehicle registration or license to ride. Because its motor is gear driven, you get plenty of torque for uphill climbs and also nice acceleration off the line. Its battery requires eight to ten hours of charge time.
Razor, Schwinn, Mongoose and Spartan Sport are some other makes and models you might want to consider before shelling out your cash for an environmentally friendly electronic scooter.
