Have Fun Riding Discount Gas Powered Motorized Scooters
Because USA laws only apply to gas motor scooters with engines size 50cc or higher, there are a lot of really exciting and discount price 49cc scooters on the market that a person of any age, both kids and adults, can legally ride.
We recently looked at a fast 49cc all terrain gas dirt mini bike that can speed you along at up to 37 mph. They were selling it on an online auction site, and the starting bid was $262, but I'm not sure if you could actually purchase one for that low a price tag.
 In case you are old enough to get a driver's license, then the 52cc ScooterX Dirt Dog might be more your speed. With upgrades it can go up to 40 mph. It has 10-inch tires, a chain drive, adjustable height racing style handlebars, front and rear disc brakes and stunt pegs. The gas tank holds one liter and the fuel economy is 80 mpg.
You may be thinking these little scooters are strictly meant for off road riding, but there are also street legal 49cc gasoline engine models. We discovered a 49.9cc sports gas moped on sale for $679 that was packed with features more commonly found on higher priced motorcycles, like front disc brake and a pretty roomy storage trunk. You can either kick start or use the electric starter, fuel capacity is a big 4.4 liters and the maximum speed depending on rider weight and road conditions is 33 mph.
If you're looking for an even more economical way to get around the neighborhood or across town, then how about a 40cc motorized bicycle kit? For about $300 you motorize your own bike with a 2-cycle motor that, according to the dealer, can be installed in about a half an hour without needing any special mechanical skills. Even a bike with front and rear suspension and women's bikes can have one of these engines added on.
If you are a real adrenaline junkie, maybe a motorized skateboard is for you. We looked at a SkaterX skateboard with a 52cc gas powered motor that was selling for about $279. If you can handle the action, this baby will scoot along at as fast as 30 mph. Get ready to start scraping the bugs off your teeth!
